This page only forms a general introduction to the nations located on the continent of Eytwar. For maps of Eytwar I refer to the Cartography section and for topics related to Eytwar alone I refer to the Encyclopedia section.
Eytwar is the only island continent of Cancon, or perhaps one should say it is not part of one of the arctic super continents. Eytwar is fairly large and of a similar size as Sequewar and the habitable area of Miewar, and close to the size of Indussu, which consists of many peninsulas. Eytwar has a large landmass with no notable inner water areas. It has a length of about 3.350 kilometer (from east to west) and a width of about 2.400 kilometer (from north to south).
Eytwar is considered to be the broken off southern half of the continent of Sequewar, althought this would be many millions of years ago, which is moving slowly to the south. Shokeim is thought to have lain more to the northeast but has been pushed westward by Eytwar.
It is thought that due to it's more isolated position on the globe with great distance to Sequewar and Ebewar and a lack of developement the civilization and population of Eytwar have been low. Eytwar has a relatively low population density, especially compared with Ebewar and Indussu, having only 75 million inhabitants. Most of the cilization and growth is considered to have been spurred on by Segai settlers in the late first millennium and early second millennium, although it is believed there have been Segai settlers before the foundation of the Second Segyn Empire, but no records remain of such events. Since the decline of the Segyn Empire a thousand years ago a steady, although not very large, stream of Segai have travelled to Eytwar to settle there. Most have preferred the Camixas valley as their destination, althought a fair percentage chose Veneyara and Seres.
The climate of Eytwar
Eytwar is located from just around the equator to about 33 degrees south longitude. The climate is thus in general quite warm over the year with ideal conditions for agriculture as harvests are possible all year around. From the south to east a cold ocean current flows, making these parts of Eytwar colder. From the east a warm ocean current flows. The eastern and central parts of Eytwar are considered to be quite dry, while the west is quite wet conditions.
The geography of Eytwar
Eytwar has a similar geographical structure as Ebewar, with an almost circular mountain ranges covering the centre part of the continent, leaving lower coastal areas around it with a large central plain. However to the south and west of the continent are several mountainous regions and overall most of West-Eytwar has quite some varied elevation. These regions also contain large and dense forests, partially contributed to plenty of rainfall all through the year. Most of the east and north consist of plains and low hills and like the central plains of Seres they lack forests, which are mostly found near the mountains but are nowhere as dense as in the west. The central plain is also traversed by a great river that flow to the south, making it quite inhabitable. None of the plains are really steppes as there is still sufficient rainfall, but there can be dry years that can make it seem such. The plains are also where large herds of cattle are kept instead of agriculture which is limited to the valleys of the larger rivers.
